The Basics

Most flowmeters also need to be professionally installed which will cost you a few hundred more, so it will be a bit of money initially but in most cases is well worth it.

There is also the gas flow meter, which is the same device as a fuel flowmeter except it is used to read gas and not fuel. A gas flow meter is concerned with measuring the flow of particular gases, generally in an industrial context and shouldn't be confused with a gasoline flow meter (fuel flow meter).
